Call me biased if you want, but I truly believe the UK holds some of the most breathtaking countryside on the planet.
With its stunning National Parks, dramatic coastlines, towering peaks, charming villages, ancient woodlands, hidden waterfalls, and endless rolling pastures, it’s no surprise this small island earns massive respect in outdoor circles.
And if you’re into camping, here’s the best part — step outside your door and you’re never far from one of the many campsites scattered across this incredible landscape 🌿
Ever since I was a little kid running around with muddy boots, I’ve been on more camping trips across the UK than I can count — so trust me, I know exactly what makes a campsite truly great. 🔥
I’ve done the hard work for you, separating the gems from the rest, so all you have to do is pick one from the list below and enjoy a top-quality pitch packed with epic outdoor activities waiting for you to dive into.
After plenty of back-and-forth debates with my partner, we finally narrowed it down to what we honestly believe are the 8 absolute best campsites we’ve ever experienced on our adventures. 🌿
Best Campsites in the UK
Camping in Llanberis
Location – Llwyn Celyn Bach, Ceunant St, Llanberis, Caernarfon LL55 4SR
Tucked away in a peaceful spot right at the base of Mount Snowdon, this campsite instantly wins you over with views that seriously take your breath away. 🔥
And with Llanberis village just a short stroll away, plus Llyn Peris nearby offering all kinds of fun watersports, you’ll never run out of things to dive into during your stay here. 🌊
With the campsite sitting right beside the famous Llanberis Path — known as the easiest way up Snowdon — this spot is a dream for anyone ready to take on that legendary peak. 🔥
And for the adventure seekers, you’re just minutes away from the iconic Watkins Path Waterfalls and the Secret Snowdon Infinity Pool, giving you even more wild experiences to explore. 🌊
If you’re after something a little more relaxed, why not wander through the charming towns of Beddgelert and Betws-y-Coed? And if hiking to the summit of Snowdon is not your vibe, you can always hop aboard the iconic mountain railway for a scenic ride instead.
Proudly calling itself a “back to basics” mountain farm campsite, this simple yet authentic spot offers both traditional camping and glamping options, making it perfect for those craving peace and quiet — especially since groups larger than 4 are not permitted.
With grass pitches starting from just £10 per night, this is an epic getaway that delivers serious value without stretching your budget. 🌿
Syke Farm Campsite
Location – Syke Farm Campsite Limited, Cockermouth CA13 9XA
Without a doubt, one of the most in-demand spots in the Lake District, Syke Farm is a beautifully simple campsite tucked right into the heart of Buttermere village. 🔥
Set beside the stunning Buttermere Lake, the circular trail wrapping around its shimmering waters is celebrated as one of the finest lake walks in the entire national park. 🌿
And that’s not all — with nearby gems like Sour Gyhll Waterfall and Crummock Water, a favorite for wild camping and open-water swimming, plus epic peaks such as High Stile and Red Pike rising boldly over the landscape, Buttermere is the ultimate base for serious outdoor explorers.
A peaceful, back-to-basics campsite, Syke Farm is your ultimate escape from the noise of everyday life — the kind of place where you slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect with the raw beauty of nature. 🌿🔥
You truly feel the magic of this place once evening settles in and the day visitors drift away from the village — that’s when the real charm begins. ✨
With nothing around you but the sounds of wildlife and the soft trickle of the stream flowing beside your pitch, it becomes one of those moments where words simply are not enough to capture the beauty of this Lake District escape. 🌿
Mullberry’s Farm
Location – Lon Bach, Caergeiliog, Llanfihangel-yn-Nhywyn, Holyhead LL65 3NL
A childhood favorite holiday spot for my girlfriend, I never actually had the chance to explore Anglesey myself until we camped there a couple of years ago — and honestly, it was worth the wait. 🔥
Even though we only spent a few days on the island, I can confidently say it has earned a place as one of my all-time favorite camping destinations in the UK. 🌿
With its charming little towns, breathtaking views, stunning beaches, and endless scenic walks waiting to be discovered, this small island truly stands as one of Wales’ brightest gems.
Pitching our tent at Mulberry’s Farm, we honestly could not have asked for a better campsite. Quiet, secluded, and kept in immaculate condition, the farm team were warm and welcoming, giving us loads of helpful tips and ideas to make the most of our stay. 🌿
Fun fact — they even offered a breakfast service, taking your order the night before and delivering it straight to your tent the next morning. Absolute winner. 🔥
Some of our favorite moments were visiting the iconic South Stack Lighthouse and taking long, peaceful walks along Rhosneigr Beach, soaking in those coastal views.
Rhosneigr Beach is actually one of the UK’s top surfing spots. I was unfortunately injured during our last trip so I had to sit it out, but next time, I am definitely getting in on the action.
It may cost slightly more than your average campsite, but staying at Mulberry’s Farm is worth every penny. With a private, spacious pitch, genuinely friendly staff, and top-quality facilities kept spotless and fully functional, this one gets a solid 10/10 recommendation from me. 👌
Red Squirrel Campsite
Location – Glencoe, Ballachulish PH49 4HX
Now let’s be real — no blog about the best campsites in the UK is complete without a proper spot in the Scottish Highlands. 🔥
Tucked into the hills just a short distance from the breathtaking village of Glencoe, Red Squirrel Campsite puts you within easy walking reach of some seriously stunning locations that are well worth exploring. 🌿
And if we’re talking favorites, Glencoe Lochan completely stole the show for us — plus the famous Harry Potter filming location where Hagrid’s Hut once stood is only a 10 minute stroll from the campsite, which makes the whole experience feel even more magical. ✨
Acorn Glamping and Camping
Location – Rock Cottage, Prideaux, St Blazey, Par, Cornwall, PL24 2SS, Par PL24 2SS
Cornwall honestly feels like a world of its own. Catch it on a perfect weather day and you would swear you have landed in some faraway paradise. 🌊
With its crystal blue seas, vibrant coastal towns, incredible local food, and endless outdoor adventures, it is no surprise we keep finding ourselves drawn back here again and again. 🔥
On our most recent trip last summer, we chose to stay at Acorn Glamping and Camping — a peaceful, tucked-away escape hidden within the woodlands of Luxulyan Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. During your stay, you can pitch your own tent or level up the experience by booking one of the charming Hobbit Holes and Huts scattered across the site. 🌿
A true bucket list campsite for any Tolkien fan, the woodland trails woven around the site let you wander through a magical setting while discovering the unique hobbit themed stays hidden among the trees. 🌿✨
Perfect for anyone craving a peaceful pitch with loads of nearby adventures, we highly recommend spending a few days exploring the charming local towns — with Charlestown, St Austell’s Bay, and Fowey easily stealing the spotlight. 🔥
With guided walking tours and even sculpture workshops available on-site, Acorn Camping also sits just a 30 minute drive from Newquay, Cornwall’s most popular town and a world famous surfing destination.
While you are there, why not challenge yourself to surf at Fistral Beach? There is honestly no better place to give it a go and feel that rush. 🌊
And after riding the waves, make sure you treat yourself to some fresh local seafood by the harbour — nothing beats seaside flavors to wrap up an epic day outdoors.
Holme Farm Campsite
Location – Holme Farm, Horton-in-Ribblesdale, Yorkshire Dales, BD24 0HD
Often dubbed ‘God’s Own County’, Yorkshire is overflowing with raw outdoor beauty and landscapes that seriously leave you speechless. 🔥
Best known for the iconic Yorkshire Dales, my absolute favorite spot in the entire National Park has to be the legendary home of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks — a place every true adventurer needs on their radar. 🏔️🌿
Three epic fells standing within walking distance of each other, this is the ultimate challenge zone where thousands of determined hikers gather every year to take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. 🔥
The mission? Conquer a full circular route covering Pen y Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough — all within just 12 hours — a proper test of grit, stamina, and pure determination. 🏔️
You definitely do not have to tackle all 3 peaks in one go — each one is an incredible adventure on its own and totally worth the effort. 🔥
I would especially recommend exploring around the Ribblehead Viaduct at the base of Whernside, where the scenery delivers unreal photo opportunities that you will not want to miss. 📸
There are plenty of brilliant campsites nearby, but one of the standout spots has to be Holme Farm Campsite in Horton in Ribblesdale — the most popular starting point for the 3 Peaks challenge.
Set right beside the mighty rise of Pen y Ghent and overlooking the rolling green Yorkshire countryside, camping here genuinely makes you feel fully immersed in the heart of the National Park. 🌿🏔️
Kielder Forest Campsite
Location – Kielder, Hexham NE48 1EJ
Set right in the heart of England’s largest walking forest, Kielder Forest Campsite is a true paradise for anyone who lives for the outdoors. 🌲🔥
Scenic, peaceful, and far removed from the noise of daily life, the woodland is packed with countless walking and biking trails that wind their way through the trees and circle around Kielder Lake — the largest man made lake in the whole of Europe. 🌿
On top of that, Kielder proudly holds Dark Sky Status and ranks as the fourth largest dark sky location in the world — which means the stargazing here is on another level entirely. ✨🔥
During our last visit, seeing the night sky in its pure, untouched form — free from the usual glow of light pollution — was genuinely breathtaking and something I will never forget. 🌌
With its rustic, back to basics setup and not a hint of phone signal around, camping in Kielder gives you the rare chance to properly switch off, recharge your energy, and reconnect with your wild side. 🌿
Stretching across more than 600 kilometres of enchanting forest and 27 miles of shimmering shoreline, this place is packed with so much to explore that you honestly will not even think about your phone. 🌲🔥
With a huge range of long distance hikes ready to test even the strongest walkers, alongside gentler routes perfect for the whole family, there is truly something here for everyone.
One of the standout routes has to be the Lakeside Way — a 27 mile circular trail around Kielder Water that takes you through some of the most breathtaking sections of the forest. 🌿
Top tip — keep your eyes open for the 20 plus public art sculptures scattered along the Lakeside Way, with the famous Giant Forest Head being one of the most talked about highlights along the route. 👀✨
Beadnell Bay Camping
Location – Chathill NE67 5BX
And as if Kielder Forest was not enough, the nearby Northumberland coast is another absolute must visit that deserves a spot on your list. 🌊🔥
With its dramatic medieval castles, sweeping sandy beaches, charming villages, and scenic hiking routes, it is the perfect setting for a laid back yet culture filled camping escape.
Top tip — for all the book lovers out there, Barter Books in Alnwick is a gem you do not want to miss. One of the largest independent bookshops in the UK and rated among the best in the North of England, it is a paradise for anyone hunting their next great read. 📚✨
And while we are talking about treats, the local seafood here is incredibly fresh and full of flavor — nothing quite compares to enjoying a fresh crab sandwich right by the Northumberland coast.
But if I had to pick just one unforgettable experience, it would have to be taking a boat trip across to Holy Island — that journey alone is something special. 🌿🚤
Immortalised in the history books after being raided by Viking invaders in the 8th century, this dramatic event is widely recognised as the very beginning of the Viking Age in Europe. ⚔️🔥
The small and sacred Holy Island was once home to St Cuthbert and remains a meaningful pilgrimage destination to this day. As you explore, you will come across Lindisfarne Castle and Lindisfarne Priory, along with cosy cafés where you can relax and recharge during your visit. 🌿
And for wildlife lovers, the Northumberland coast does not disappoint — seals are a common sight, and if luck is on your side during a boat trip, you might even catch a glimpse of dolphins or whales out at sea. 🌊✨
One of the standout campsites in the area has to be Beadnell Bay Camping and Caravanning Club Site — a friendly, peaceful spot right by the beach with incredible views stretching across the Northumberland coast and the Cheviot Hills. 🌊🔥
And with the charming fishing harbour of Seahouses just 2 short miles away, it really leaves you thinking… what more could you possibly need for the perfect coastal escape? 🌿✨
