No way I ride without them! <\/strong> \ud83d\ude0e<\/p><p data-start=\"56\" data-end=\"128\">But the problem: a lot of pads are uncomfortable, they slip or rub \ud83d\ude2c <\/p><p data-start=\"130\" data-end=\"214\">The most annoying thing: when the pads slowly slide down your shin and end up like leg warmers \ud83d\ude24<\/p><p data-start=\"216\" data-end=\"303\">The most frustrating thing: when the pads slowly slide down the leg and end up like leg warmers \ud83d\ude24 <\/p><p data-start=\"305\" data-end=\"404\">A small note: sometimes the strap catches on your pants, could be less bulky to avoid this \ud83e\udd0f <\/p><p data-start=\"406\" data-end=\"479\">Sizing tip: since they\u2019re tight, if you\u2019re on the edge of a size, go one size up \ud83c\udfcb\ufe0f\u200d\u2642\ufe0f <\/p><p data-start=\"481\" data-end=\"625\">Another issue: the Fitlock system that holds the pad behind the knee sometimes bunches up and feels weird \ud83d\ude05<br data-start=\"575\" data-end=\"578\">Fix: pull the bottom of the pad down your leg instead of tugging from the top <\/p><p data-start=\"627\" data-end=\"813\">First time trying: D3O-based \u2018gravity\u2019 pads from Troy Lee Designs \ud83d\udcaa<br data-start=\"692\" data-end=\"695\">Protection is solid: covers the front of the knee well and extends down the top third of the shin, with tight bottoms keeping coverage consistent no matter your leg angle  <\/p><p data-start=\"815\" data-end=\"901\">Side protection: there\u2019s foam on the sides, usually enough for bumps against the frame \ud83d\udeb2 <\/p><p data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"1045\">Important point: protection for the top of the knee. \ud83d\ude0e<\/p><p data-start=\"78\" data-end=\"147\"><strong data-start=\"78\" data-end=\"143\">Even though there are softer materials, D3O strikes an excellent balance between comfort and protection. <\/strong> \u2728<\/p><p data-start=\"149\" data-end=\"252\">Secure fit: if a crash happens, the pads stay in place, unlike some that slide off during a fall \ud83d\ude24  <\/p><p data-start=\"254\" data-end=\"333\">Lightweight: the pads aren\u2019t heavy, and D3O molds to your knee, adding extra comfort \ud83d\udcaa  <\/p><p data-start=\"335\" data-end=\"424\">Even on long rides: designed for hardcore downhill, yet comfy enough for longer sessions sometimes \ud83d\udeb2 <\/p><p data-start=\"426\" data-end=\"572\">Small note: towards the end of long rides, the pads press a bit on the front of the knee when wearing pants \ud83d\ude05 <br data-start=\"520\" data-end=\"523\">The fix: wear shorts, especially with how awesome they look \ud83d\ude0e <\/p><p data-start=\"574\" data-end=\"657\">Tip: knee pad fit is very personal, try them on before buying if you ride for long sessions \ud83c\udfcb\ufe0f\u200d\u2642\ufe0f <\/p><p data-start=\"659\" data-end=\"761\">For regular riding: a great set, and if comfort is your main goal, Troy Lee\u2019s Stage pads might be better.  <\/p><p data-start=\"763\" data-end=\"845\">Bottom line:<br data-start=\"775\" data-end=\"778\"> I\u2019ve crashed plenty riding with the Raids, and my knees have been fully protected every time \ud83d\udca5 <\/p><p data-start=\"847\" data-end=\"954\">Cons: the price is a bit steep, around \u00a3130 \ud83d\udcb8<br data-start=\"887\" data-end=\"890\">But: D3O is excellent, knee coverage is complete, and protection is comprehensive \u2728  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Raid Knee Guard from Troy Lee Designs is the ultimate gravity-proof protection!
