One of our go-to local walks, bringing together two of Burnley’s most scenic highlights: Clowbridge Reservoir and the iconic Singing Ringing Tree—“Ready for the views?” Always. 🌿
The circular loop kicks off by leading you along the shimmering waters of Clowbridge Reservoir. Then it gently climbs through open moorland, pulling you higher and higher until you reach Crown Point, home of the Singing Ringing Tree. “Worth the climb?” Absolutely. 🌿

Set in the countryside of Dunnockshaw, right next to the Burnley Millennium Forest, Clowbridge Reservoir sits calm and picture-perfect. 🌿
Built back in 1866, the reservoir led to the disappearance of the historic village of Gambleside. Today, it’s a favorite spot for walkers and water-sport lovers alike. “Quiet or lively?” A bit of both.
A flat, easy-to-follow path wraps neatly around the water. As you stroll along, keep an eye out for sailors, windsurfers, and fishermen scattered across the sparkling surface.
The standard loop around the reservoir offers a relaxed 3-kilometre stroll. Perfect if you’re keeping things easy and laid-back. 🌿
Feeling like pushing a little further? There are plenty of off-shoot trails that branch into nearby community woodlands and open uplands. One of the standout routes leads straight to the Singing Ringing Tree.
