Quick heads up — the car park is small and fills up fast. We arrived around 10am and it was already completely full.

How long does it take to walk around Entwistle Reservoir
Walking the standard 4-kilometre loop at a steady pace usually takes around one hour, nice and easy 🌿
That said, there’s plenty to catch your eye along the way, and loads of chances to wander off the main path. If you’re not in a rush, give yourself extra time and enjoy it properly.
We dipped into the woodlands during our stroll and had a blast exploring hidden side trails and stumbling across some seriously picturesque mini waterfalls.
“Stick to the main loop?”
“Or go explore what’s waiting behind the trees?”
You’ll also find some top picnic spots around the reservoir. Just keep in mind we didn’t see any bins along the route, so bring something to carry your rubbish and leave the place spotless.
What to wear for the Reservoir walk?
Even on a bright spring morning, it can feel surprisingly chilly beside the water, so layer up and stay warm 🌬️
“Heavy sunshine means light clothes?”
“Not by the reservoir breeze.”
On wetter days, the paths can turn muddy and soft underfoot, so a solid pair of walking boots will make all the difference.
When winter hits, those damp sections can freeze over and get seriously icy. Take steady steps and stay sharp when the frost rolls in.
