Heaton Park sits just north of Manchester city centre in the charming town of Prestwich. 🌳
Covering more than 600 acres, it’s a top spot for locals and visitors alike, thanks to its mix of scenic trails, cozy woodlands, stunning views, and tons of things to explore.
Heaton Park is way more than just a stroll – it’s packed with cafés, an animal centre, tennis courts, bowling greens, a golf course, a boating lake, an adventure playground, and the historic Heaton Hall, an 18th-century Grade I listed building. 🏰
In recent years, the park has welcomed an even bigger crowd thanks to the world-famous Parklife music festival, drawing up to 80,000 visitors annually!
Living near Heaton Park during the Covid lockdowns, getting out of the flat and exploring its many trails quickly became the highlight of our days.
Even now, as life slowly returns to normal, stepping into the park gives an instant escape from the city’s hectic pace.
With its network of twisting paths, walks can be as short or as long as you like – we never take the same route twice, often just creating a fresh adventure on the spot!

How long is the walk around Heaton Park?
The beauty of Heaton Park is that its endless connecting paths let you make your walk as short or as long as you like.
A complete loop around the park stretches about 9 kilometres (5.6 miles) and usually takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
With so much to see and do, it’s easy to get side-tracked and spend extra time exploring the park. 🌟
How to get to Heaton Park from Manchester city centre?
Heaton Park sits about 5 miles north of Manchester city centre. 🚋
If you’re using public transport, the tram towards Bury is your easiest option.
You can hop on at Piccadilly, Market Street, Shudehill, or Victoria, and stay on until you reach the aptly named ‘Heaton Park’ stop.
Alternatively, catch a bus from the city centre – the 135 towards Bury drops you right outside the park.
Just watch for the park shortly after passing Cheetham Hill.
